To all who knew and loved Don Macdonald…..It is with profound sadness and a broken heart I must tell you: Don Macdonald passed away on June 2, 2025 after suffering a major stroke while he slept.
I have always known that this day would come, but no amount of preparation could shield me from the soul-crushing reality that I have lost my best friend, my near constant companion, the source of my joy, and the light of my life.
I have no idea how I will go on — but I know that I will. Of all the many things Don taught us by example, the most impactful is this:
No matter how many times you get knocked down, no matter what life throws at you, or how the odds are stacked against you — just keep going.
Take a moment, assess the damage, fix what you can, let go of whatever cannot be repaired or restored. Ask for help. Find an ally. Accept support. Start slowly, one tentative step at a time. Look forward and keep going. Only look back to offer your hand to someone in need. Don’t worry about how far you will go or how fast you will get there. Allow for the possibility that with optimism, perseverance, and resolve, you will get through. Then breathe deep, square your shoulders, take a leap of faith… and
Just Keep Going.
